Is FETAC Certification still available?
No, FETAC certification is no longer available.
FETAC (the Further Education and Training Awards Council) was the national awarding body for further education and training in Ireland.
In 2012, QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland) was established to bring together the standalone agencies of FETAC, HETAC, IUQB, and NQAI.
QQI is responsible for maintaining and providing awards on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). This means that instead of awards being “FETAC Level 6”, they are now “QQI Level 6”.
What does this mean for FETAC Train the Trainer?
The old Train The Trainer FETAC course (code: E30179) was deactivated at the end of 2014.
Instead of being replaced by an almost identical version of the old course, it was expanded to two, in-depth courses that focus on the skills required by successful trainers:
- QQI Training Needs Identification & Design (code: 6N3325)
- QQI Training Delivery & Evaluation (code: 6N3326)
If you complete both courses and their assessments successfully, you will automatically gain a QQI Special Purpose Award in Training and Development (code: 6S3372).
I have a FETAC Train the Trainer. Is it still valid?
Don’t worry, your existing FETAC Train the Trainer is still a valid award and does not expire.

How can I get Train the Trainer now?
Even though the FETAC Train the Trainer course and certification have been deactivated for several years, the award name continues to be used by almost everyone.
Nowadays, when people refer to “getting a Train the Trainer certification”, they are referring to QQI Training Delivery and Evaluation or QQI Training Needs Identification and Design.
QQI Training Delivery and Evaluation is the most popular choice for first steps, as it is the closest in content to the old Train the Trainer.

Do I need both courses?
