What Are The Programme Objectives of this Special Purpose Award?
Over the 7 days of this programme, you will cover a wide variety of skills and knowledge areas.
We have 5 main objectives for this programme. Upon completion, participants will:
- Understand key concepts and theories relating to training
- Be able to complete an accurate Training Needs Analysis (TNA)
- Possess a variety of training design skills
- Know how to deliver training with confidence
- Be able to utilise various training evaluation models
Components
There are two components or courses within this award:
As their names might suggest, each component covers two stages of the Training Cycle.
To achieve the Special Purpose Award, you must successfully complete both components. You can attend the components in whichever order you prefer and take a break in between courses.
Delivery Style
Our QQI Special Purpose Award in Training and Development is available for both public and in-company training.
Public Courses
Our public courses run throughout the year. They are open to all and suitable for anyone with an interest in learning to train others.

Public courses are delivered in a live virtual classroom style. This means connecting online to our real-time training sessions.
You can interact with your trainer and fellow classmates as you would in a classroom situation.
In-Company Courses
In-company training means that we deliver training to a group of participants from a single organisation on selected dates.
It is beneficial for companies of all sizes and within every industry.
We can deliver in-company training in your preferred style: live virtual or in-person format, where we come to your location.

Achieving This Award
There are 5 steps to achieving your special purpose award. You can learn about them in more detail within our brochure, but here is a quick synopsis:

Step 1: Attend First Component
This can be either Training Needs Identification and Design or Training Delivery and Evaluation, depending on your interest and upcoming course dates.

Step 2: Complete Self-Directed Learning and Assessment Work for First Component
You will have 8 weeks to complete and submit your assessment work following training.

Step 3: Complete Second Component
Attend whichever course you did not attend in the first step.
You can choose to take some time between components if your schedule is packed or you would like a break.

Step 4: Complete Self-Directed Learning and Assessment Work for Second Component
As with the first component, you will have 8 weeks following the last date of training to complete and submit your work.

Step 5: Grading and Verification
For each component, your work must go through a series and quality assurance procedures to insure it has been fairly and accurately marked.
Once this process has been completed, you will receive your grade and following this, your award. You will only receive your full Special Purpose Award once both components have been passed and verified.
